Frequently Asked Questions

Everything contractors need to know about Lienra.

Verified launch coverage in priority states · Federal Miller Act workflows supported

What is Lienra?

Lienra is a legal workflow platform designed for construction contractors. It helps contractors understand their legal position, prepare legal documents, and take action when payment disputes arise.

Is Lienra a law firm?

No. Lienra is a document tool, not a law firm. It provides structured legal workflows and AI guidance for construction disputes. For court representation, a licensed attorney may still be required.

How many states does Lienra support?

Lienra's V1.0 launch covers a verified set of priority states with state-aware filing office, deadline, notice, and document logic. Federal Miller Act workflows are also supported. Document availability depends on your state, project type, and case facts — more states and document paths are being added.

What can Lienra help me with?

Lienra helps contractors handle all stages of construction payment disputes, including: demand letters and payment recovery, mechanic's lien preparation and filing, lien release and project closeout, bond claim documentation (for public or bonded jobs), court collect filings (small claims recovery), and court defend / response filings.

Which states are Fully Supported?

Verified launch coverage includes priority states with state-aware filing office, deadline, document title, notarization, and Kayron AI guidance. Federal Miller Act workflows are also supported. Document availability for any specific document type depends on your state, project type, and case facts — your case workspace shows you which documents are ready for your jurisdiction.

What is Kayron?

Kayron is the AI legal engine that powers Lienra. Kayron identifies your state, detects filing deadlines, routes your case to the right legal path, and generates state-specific documents — all within your case workspace. Kayron is not a chat assistant; it is the execution layer of your legal workflow.

Do I need a subscription to use Lienra?

No. You can pay per document for one-time needs, or choose a monthly plan for ongoing protection and discounts.

What are credits used for?

Credits power all AI-driven actions in Lienra: Kayron analysis and case routing, evidence review and extraction, timeline and deadline calculation, strategic messaging drafts, formal document generation, and document revisions. Each action type consumes a defined number of credits based on complexity.

How does unlimited case creation work?

All plans allow you to create unlimited cases. Credits are consumed by AI actions within each case — analysis, document generation, revisions, and messaging. There is no hard cap on the number of active cases.

What is a Bond Claim?

A bond claim is the recovery path for contractors on public projects or jobs covered by a payment bond. If the project had a general contractor who posted a payment bond, you can file a claim against that bond instead of (or in addition to) a mechanic's lien. Lienra supports bond claims in priority states and Federal Miller Act projects, with state-aware statute citations and deadlines applied automatically.

What is Court Collect?

Court Collect is a small claims court filing to recover unpaid amounts when other recovery paths have not resolved the dispute. Lienra generates the correct court form and filing guidance for your specific state and county.

What is Court Defend?

Court Defend covers situations where a contractor is named as a defendant — such as a counterclaim, a lien dispute in court, or a board-related proceeding. Lienra prepares the response filing based on the applicable state statute and your case details.

Can Lienra help before a dispute escalates?

Yes. Lienra is designed to help contractors act early — documenting disputes, preparing notices, identifying deadlines, and understanding legal options before problems grow.

What if my dispute turns into a lawsuit?

If a dispute escalates into litigation, you may need a licensed attorney. Lienra can still help organize documents, evidence, and timelines for use in legal proceedings.
